Professional Development Services

EdTech Associates Professional Development programs are designed to the standards outlined under NCLB for High Quality Professional Development. These programs are organized to give your staff the skills and the understanding in how to use accessible desktop and online tools to support diverse learners in the classroom.

In the “Tools for Learning”™ Institutes, learn how to apply the Universal Design for Learning® model to differentiate instruction using accessible technology tools and include ways for each student to express understanding of what they have learned.

Combined Service Program (Optional)

2-days of follow-up training to support instructional practice using the Universal Design for Learning® model with an opportunity for teachers to design a standards-based curriculum unit applying the UDL® model

 
25 Professional Development Hours or 2 graduate credits from Plymouth State University graduate credit are available for the “Tools for Learning” Institute. 3 graduate credits can be obtained with the “Tools for Learning” Institute and the Combined Service Program.

2-day “Tools for Learning”™ Workshops

Offered Year Round to Schools, School Districts and Educational Organizations

The daily challenge for educators is to teach to diverse learners in a single classroom. This hands-on workshop will demonstrate how to use desktop software and “free” online tools to support students who have difficulties in reading, writing, organizing and expressing ideas through language. Activities will include developing a Plan for Learning Diversity™ by applying instructional strategies with the use of the common desktop software and online tools. Handouts will include a comprehensive list of web sites used to support all learners in the classroom.

The 2-day "Tools for Learning" workshop can be customized to specific grade levels or content areas.

1-Day Administrator’s Seminar: “Tools for Learning”™

This seminar offers insight to the Universal Design for Learning® Model including the instructional strategies and technology tools introduced to teachers in EdTech Associates Professional Development Programs. In a hands-on session, administrators will see how common desktop software and “no cost” online tools can be used to remove barriers to learning while providing a means for students to express understanding of their own learning. Examples of lesson plans and curriculum units will be available. The seminar will conclude with a discussion on how to support new instructional practices in schools and districts.
